MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- An 18-year-old woman from Marble Hill was taken to Saint Francis Medical Center today after her car collided with a box truck on Highway 34.
Jessica R. Spencer was traveling eastbound when her Pontiac Grand Am crossed the center line and struck the truck, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol website. The Marble Hill Fire Department cut the woman from the mangled wreck of her car.
Spencer was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
Trooper Richard Pipkin of the Missouri State Highway Patrol described Spencer's injuries as serious. The driver of the truck, Jason Grubbs, 30, of Scott City, was not injured in the wreck, which occurred about 11:45 a.m.
The wreck took place about three miles east of Marble Hill.
Grubbs was headed westbound to make bread deliveries in Marble Hill, he said, when he saw the woman cross the center line on a slight curve. He said he tried to swerve to avoid the woman, but struck the front left side of her car and flipped his truck.
