PIEDMONT -- Free maps are available showing location of authorized vehicle stream crossings on Clearwater Lake project lands.

"Corp regulations prohibit the operation of vehicles off authorized roadways except at designated locations," said Joe Corbin, of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. "The map will allow visitors to located roads where vehicles and drive through the streams."

Corbin points out that authorized crossings are no necessarily safe.

"The condition of any stream crossing often changes with each new rainfall," he said. "Therefore, we encourage all drivers to carefully check water depth and swiftness before attempting to cross a stream.
