City collectors sent out more than 800 utility disconnect letters to customers earlier this month and another round of 400 letters last week, after having not sent out disconnect notices since December.

No notices were sent out because of glitches with a computer upgrade.

The first round of disconnect notices was sent to customers who are more than 90 days past due. The second round was sent to customers who did not respond to the first notice.

For those who received the second notice, the final day to pay before being cut off was Friday.
