COLLINSVILLE, Ill. -- A Collinsville man who fatally shot his estranged wife in the couple's home turned the shotgun on himself about a mile away on a country lane, authorities said Friday.
Madison County Sheriff Robert Hertz said Michael Knight, 44, rode a mountain bike Thursday night from his home after shooting his wife Karen Knight, 36.
Karen Knight's body was found Friday morning by her father. Police found Michael Knight in the afternoon.
After the couple's estrangement Michael Knight had taken an apartment of his own, Hertz said.
Karen Knight's relatives declined to comment on the shootings.
