Man who called in bomb threat to Scott County Courthouse gets federal prison time

BENTON, Mo. -- A Sikeston, Mo., man will spend time in a federal prison after making a false bomb threat in June, according to KZIM KSIM.

On Wednesday, Judge Stephen Limbaugh Jr. sentenced William Scott Jr. to 33 months. The Scott County Sheriff's Department arrested Scott, 39, last summer after he called in a false bomb threat to the Scott County Courthouse on June 24. Scott had an appearance that day for felony nonsupport.

The judicial building and sheriff's office had to be evacuated for several hours for a search, but no bomb was found. Police traced his call to his cell phone and used video surveillance to find him.

Scott was wanted for six weeks before his arrest in August.
