Desmond L. Woods, 32, was arrested at 7:13 a.m. Friday by the Sikeston Department of Public Safety after he was found asleep at the wheel of a vehicle parked in the roadway on South Kingshighway -- in front of department headquarters, according to Capt. John Martin.

When an officer ran a check on Woods, it was discovered his driver's license was suspended.

Officers reportedly found a crack pipe and a firearm in the vehicle. The gun was illegal for Woods to have in his possession as he is a felon, Martin said.
