Cape Girardeau police arrested a local man Friday on suspicion of threatening a family member with a knife.

Gary Wayne Rainey, 33, of Cape Girardeau was charged with felony unlawful use of a weapon, misdemeanor, third-degree domestic assault and misdemeanor trespassing. A complaint and arrest warrant were filed by the Cape Girardeau County prosecuting attorney’s office Monday.

Police went Friday to a house in the 600 block of Rosebud Circle to a report Rainey was exhibiting the knife in an angry or threatening manner, according to Cape Girardeau public information officer Richard McCall.

It was found during the investigation Rainey had threatened an adult male family member with violence, according to the complaint. Rainey also was found to have unlawfully entered the house owned by the family member.

Rainey’s bond was set at $15,000 cash or surety.
