A man was stabbed early Sunday morning inside a Cape Girardeau bar.
No names were released by Cape Girardeau police but a suspect is in custody pending the filing of formal charges.
Officers responded to a stabbing call at 12:47 a.m. Sunday at the Taste Lounge, 402 Good Hope Street.
Once inside, police found a man with several stab wounds to his stomach. He was taken to Southeast Missouri Hospital for treatment.
Police took another man into custody at 1:50 a.m. Sunday. An investigation continues pending filing of charges, likely first-degree assault.
The Cape Girardeau City Council put the Taste Lounge on a probationary liquor license in June because of concern by police. Officers routinely respond to fights and assault calls at the bar, and are frequently forced to respond to noise and crowd control complaints as well.
The council voted to put the lounge on a six-month probationary license instead of granting full renewal. The probationary license is to be considered again in December.
