Shots were fired Wednesday afternoon near the intersection of Bloomfield Road and Hanover Street during a robbery attempt, police said.

Cape Girardeau Police Department public information officer Darin Hickey said at about 12:30 p.m., the victim reported that he was in the B & H Convenience store when he was approached by two people wanting to purchase electronic equipment from him.

An argument began, and one suspect grabbed the victim and the other wielded a hand gun, the victim reported. He fled the scene before the suspects took the electronics from him, and he heard two shots fired, the victim reported.

The victim suffered a wound on one calf where a bullet entered and exited, and a mark on the other calf where he was grazed with a different bullet, Hickey said. The man was transported, treated and released from a hospital with nonlife threatening injuries, he said.
