POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- A gunman robbed a man on the Wal-Mart parking lot late Monday night, according to the Poplar Bluff Police Department.
Heath E. Chandler, 31, of rural Naylor, Mo., told police he parked near the center doors between 10:30 and 11:30 p.m. and was walking toward the store when he was approached by a man "who came out of nowhere."
Chandler said the robber "put a black semiautomatic gun in his abdomen."
"He told me to give him all the money I had. I gave him $25," Chandler said.
Then the robber took Chandler to a Cherokee driven by a woman. Chandler said the man was intoxicated and "acting weird." Then he hugged Chandler and fled in the Cherokee.
A Wal-Mart videotape of what took place in the parking lot is being studied by detectives.
