A Cape Girardeau man remained in serious condition Thursday at a hospital after being injured in an vehicle accident in the city.
The man, James B. Daly, 24, of 1112 Cape Hills, was at Southeast Missouri Hospital after the car he was riding in overturned on Sprigg Street Road north of Bertling, said police and hospital spokespersons. Daly, who was not wearing his seat belt, was thrown from the car, said police.
Driver Sean E. Daly, 22, of the same address, was treated at the hospital and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Police said the two men are brothers. Their injuries were unavailable from police.
Sgt. Al Moore, who is in charge of the police department's traffic division, said the accident occurred at Sprigg and Melody Lane at 1:20 a.m. Thursday. Moore said Sean Daly was driving a 1983 Buick Regal northbound when he lost control, crossed the road's centerline and struck a railing on a small concrete bridge.
The wreck occurred on a black-top road with a lot of curves, said Moore.
Moore said he had no idea what the speed of the car was when the wreck happened. The speed limit at the site is 30 mph, he said.
Sean Daly also was not wearing a seat belt, Moore said.
