A Dunklin County man in jail charged with assaulting and abusing an infant as he changed her diaper has pleaded not guilty.
David Kimball Jr., 22, pleaded not guilty last week before judge John Spielman. A preliminary hearing is set for Jan. 8.
Kimball was arrested Dec. 15 and charged with first-degree felony assault and child abuse.
According to police, Kimball broke the child's right leg as he changed her diaper Sept. 26 but never reported the injury to her mother. The 1-month-old girl was taken to three hospitals until the broken femur was diagnosed in mid-October. Kimball later apologized to the mother and told her it was an accident.
He is jailed on $150,000 bond.
