WOLF LAKE, Ill. -- A driver was killed Monday afternoon in a crash involving a passenger car and two semi-trucks on Route 3 four miles north of Wolf Lake.
Fatally injured was the driver of one of the semis, Robert Miller, 54, of Aledo, Ill. He was taken to Union County Hospital in Anna after the 4:45 p.m. collision.
Sustaining minor injuries in the accident were the other two drivers: Lorine Ellis, 48, of Grand Tower, Ill., and Robert Morris, 70, of McClure.
Ellis was taken to Carbondale Memorial Hospital. Morris was taken to St. Francis Medical Center.
Miller was driving a semi-truck behind Ellis' southbound passenger vehicle when Ellis attempted to make a right turn into a private drive, a spokesman for the Illinois State Police said.
Miller's truck struck Ellis' car in the rear, crossed the center line and collided with Morris' northbound semi-truck, sideswiping the tractor and hitting the front of the trailer, the spokesman said.
