A Caruthersville man was killed in a three-car accident Thursday morning in Pemiscot County, the state Highway Patrol said.
Patrick Gibson, 40, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which took place about 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. 412 and Route Z.
The accident occurred as a car driven by Jeffery Stone, 39, attempted to avoid another vehicle that was crossing the intersection. The second vehicle, driven by Jeffery Gaskins, 37, struck Stone's car as he lost control. Stone's car crossed the center line, hitting the car driven by Gibson.
Stone, of Portageville, was airlifted to Elvis Presley Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn., in serious condition. Pamela Gibson, 46, was also airlifted to Elvis Presley Medical Center in serious condition. The Gibsons had been riding in the same car.
Gaskins, of Wardell, and his three passengers received minor injuries.
