MORLEY, Mo. -- A Morley man has been charged with felony second-degree domestic assault.
At approximately 2 p.m. Friday, Scott County senior deputy Matt Scroggins responded to Stephenson Street in Morley to a report of a man with a baseball bat chasing several people. When Scroggins arrived on scene he found Kristopher Brooks, 26, with several apparent cuts to his body and a bloody nose, according to a news release from Sheriff Rick Walter.
"When asked about details concerning the call, Brooks told the deputy he had no knowledge and was just walking to a friend's residence. Brooks was detained by Deputy Scroggins and placed into his patrol car," Walter reported.
The deputy then drove to a nearby local business where it was reported an assault victim was found. When Scroggins met with a woman, he observed injuries on her face and neck and the victim stated Brooks had struck her on the face.
Although the victim said she did not wish to pursue charges, Brooks was subsequently transported to the Scott County Jail, Walter said.
Anyone who has information regarding unreported domestic violence or other crimes is asked to contact the Scott County Sheriff's Office at 545-3525, or leave a message on the crime tip line at 1-866-210-4322.
