MINER -- A Matthews man sustained injuries Wednesday when his truck collided with a tractor-trailer at an intersection near Miner.

Russell Wescoat, 18, was taken to Missouri Delta Hospital after the 11:04 a.m. accident on Route H, a mile north of Miner.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was Claude Lussell, 52, of Sikeston. He had minor injuries.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, Wescoat's truck failed to stop at a stop sign and struck the tractor-trailer. About 70 gallons of diesel fuel were spilled in the accident. The Missouri Department of Natural Resources was contacted to clean up the spill.
