A shooting on Hanover street late Sunday night sent one man to the hospital.
Cape Girardeau Police spokesman Darin Hickey said a 20-year-old man was shot in the leg and had to be taken to a hospital after he became involved in a verbal argument with several people around 11:20 p.m. Sunday.
Officers responded to a report of a disturbance on Benton Street but a witness to the shooting pointed them toward a residence in the 400 block Hanover Street where they made contact with the victim. The suspects fled the scene following the shooting.
The victim told police the shooter was a male wearing dark clothing.
Hickey described the man's injuries as non-life threatening and said police are continuing to investigate the incident. No one is in custody.
