A man riding a motorcycle was injured Sunday in an accident involving a deer in Cape Girardeau County.

Michael D. Hanners, 45, of Cape Girardeau was riding a 2002 Harley-Davidson motorcycle north on Highway 177 early Sunday morning about 12 miles north of Cape Girardeau, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol online crash report.

The accident occurred when Hanners struck a deer in the road and was thrown from the motorcycle, the report stated.

Hanners was transported by ambulance to a hospital for treatment of moderate injuries.
