An elderly man operating his motorized wheelchair at Broadway and West End Boulevard Monday suffered injuries after the driver of a four-door Buick struck him in the intersection.

A Cape Girardeau Police officer who responded to the scene wasn't sure of the severity of the man's injuries, but said he was transported to a Cape Girardeau hospital.

The driver of the vehicle told officers he was traveling west on Broadway and waiting to turn left onto West End Boulevard.

He turned left and hit the man going east in crosswalk on his wheelchair.

The police officer didn't say if the driver of the Buick would be cited.
