Man hit by car on I-55 in Pemiscot County

PORTAGEVILLE, Mo. -- A Portageville pedestrian was injured after being struck by a car late Wednesday in Pemiscot County, the Sikeston Standard Democrat reported.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, three miles south of Portageville, the accident occurred at 9:20 p.m. as Donnie R. McCarter, 53, of Portageville was attempting to cross Interstate 55 and was struck by the southbound vehicle driven by 35-year-old DeCondra T. Moore of Caruthersville.

McCarter sustained moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital.
