Man found dead in home; police suspect dog attack

SPANISH LAKE, Mo. — A St. Louis County man is dead, and police believe he was killed by one of his pet pit bulls.

Police on Tuesday identified the victim as 45-year-old Adonis Reddick. St. Louis County police spokesman Shawn McGuire said the county medical examiner determined Reddick died of “penetrating and perforating” wounds to the neck, and investigators believe an aggressive dog attacked him.

Police were called to Reddick’s home near Spanish Lake on Monday morning. Two pit bulls were at the home, and police said one was so aggressive when officers arrived it had to be fatally shot. The other dog was calm and taken for evaluation.

It wasn’t immediately clear what prompted the attack.
