ST. LOUIS -- A 40-year-old man died early Monday after crashing into a pickup while driving the wrong way on Interstate 70 in St. Louis, police said. The accident happened about 3:45 a.m. Police said Michael Jordan of East St. Louis, Ill., was driving his 1994 Infiniti J30 eastbound in the westbound lanes when he collided head-on with a Dodge Ram pickup. Two people in the pickup were hospitalized. Steve Warren, 24, of Overland, was in critical condition. Joseph McGhee, 21, of St. Louis, was in serious condition.
Jordan was involved in an earlier accident, then drove away, entering the interstate going the wrong way, police said.
A tractor-trailer was also involved in the wreck, but the driver was not hurt.
Westbound I-70 was shut down for more than two hours.
