Cape Girardeau County Coroner John Carpenter said Thursday night he hadn't ruled on a preliminary cause of death.

"It's still under investigation," he said. "There were no eyewitnesses to the accident, so there is still work to be done."

Carpenter said he will meet with the Mine Safety Board this morning. He said the meeting with the safety board and his investigation were routine.
