It began as a traffic stop for a motorist driving without headlights about 2 a.m. Thursday on William Street. Cape Girardeau officers said they found a pistol and a passenger with an outstanding warrant for first-degree robbery.

When the three occupants of the vehicle were taken to police headquarters, one of the passengers said he had picked up Darrell Montero Isaac, 31, of Cape Girardeau on Themis Street, and Issac showed the passenger a 9 mm handgun with a band around it, Cape Girardeau police officer Chris Close wrote in a probable-cause statement.

During the traffic stop, Isaac, who was in the front passenger seat, opened the door before police told him to do so, and he was detained quickly.

Isaac was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm.

About 2:30 a.m. Oct. 10, Isaac kicked in the bedroom door to the residence of the mother of his child, Cape Girardeau police officer Jacob Carter wrote in another probable-cause statement. Isaac demanded she give him money, then began threatening her with a baseball bat, Carter wrote. Eventually she gave him her wallet, and he said the next time he was going to kill her before leaving, Carter wrote.

Carter also noted a small window at the residence that was opened where Isaac gained entry.
