Man dead after being struck by car over weekend

PORTAGEVILLE, Mo. -- A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and killed late Saturday in New Madrid County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, at 8:50 p.m. on Highway 162, one mile east of Portageville, the accident occurred as the westbound vehicle driven by Kevin J. Turley, 46, of Portageville, struck 28-year-old Portageville resident Shaundell D. Anderson, who was walking in the road.

Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:43 p.m. by New Madrid County Deputy Coroner Ralph Barnwell and taken to DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville.
