The driver of a vehicle involved in a fatal accident last month has been charged for his alleged role in the incident.
Cape Girardeau County Prosecuting Attorney Chris Limbaugh on July 29 charged John J. Kelly, 60, of Cape Girardeau with careless and imprudent driving, a misdemeanor.
Documents filed in the case say Kelly proceeded through a red light and struck the other vehicle, causing the death of Florence James.
James, 81, died July 16 at Saint Francis Medical Center from injuries sustained during the accident earlier in the day.
Kelly's arraignment is set for Monday.
