BENTON, Mo. -- The Scott County Sheriff's Department has charged a Benton man with burglary and property damage in connection with an August break-in at Schindler's Tavern in New Hamburg, Mo., and authorities are looking for Chaffee man believed to have also taken part in the burglary.

Charles D. Dobyns, 18, of Benton was arrested following an investigation into the Aug. 21 break-in at the tavern.

Dobyns was arrested on Friday and remains in Scott County Jail on charges of burglary, property damage and felony stealing, according to a news release from the sheriff's department. Bond has been set by Judge Scott Horman at $2,500.

Police are looking for Dobyns' alleged accomplice, Kent J. Courtney, 19, of Chaffee. Courtney is charged with burglary, felony stealing and felony property damage. Bond has been set at $5,000 by Horman but Courtney is not in custody at this time.

It is believed that Courtney left the state shortly after the burglary and returns periodically. He has been entered into a national crime computer, with nationwide extradition.

The sheriff's department urges anyone who knows of Courtney's whereabouts and wants to provide information anonymously to call the Scott County Sheriff's tip line at 866-210-4322 or the regular department number 573-545-3525.
