Police arrested a man following an armed robbery Tuesday night at KFC at 2101 William St. A man walked into the restaurant around 8:30 p.m., displayed a gun and demanded cash, Cape Girardeau Police Department spokesman Sgt. Jason Selzer said. Employees gave the man the cash, and he ran out of the restaurant, Selzer said. Police followed a vehicle the man reportedly was driving to a field, where it got stuck in mud. The suspect ran until officers caught him, Selzer said.
The suspect was identified by restaurant employees, and the gun was found, Selzer said. Police believe the cash has been recovered. The suspect's name was not being released.
