A Cape Girardeau man has been arrested in connection with a Sunday morning shooting that injured another man, police reported.
Randall L. Cayce, 44, is suspected of shooting an unnamed Cape Girardeau man early Sunday morning near the intersection of Broadway and Sprigg Street, said Darin Hickey, public information officer for the Cape Girardeau Police Department.
The victim, whose name has not been released, was shot once in the leg and was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Sgt. Adam Glueck of the Cape Girardeau Police Department said Sunday.
Police received a call about the shooting at 1:09 a.m., Glueck said.
Cayce was arrested Tuesday afternoon on suspicion of domestic assault, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon and being a felon in possession of a firearm, Hickey said.
"He was identified as a suspect on that. We picked him up and submitted charges against him for that. Those charges are still pending at this time," Hickey said.
While Cayce was in custody, officers received a warrant for his arrest on a federal parole violation, Hickey said.
Court records show Cayce appeared in federal court Wednesday for revocation of probation and supervised release proceedings. Cayce had been on probation in connection with a 2001 case in which he pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.
Hickey said police have referred the charges related to the shooting to prosecutors.
"It's still under advisement," Hickey said. "It is still under review by the prosecutor's office."
