A Sikeston, Missouri-area man was arrested by Scott County sheriff's deputies on a charge of unlawful use of a weapon after he allegedly shot a gun at the ground near a boy in Oran, Missouri.
Timothy Jarvis, 37, of County Highway 529 near Sikeston, was charged Saturday, according to a news release from the sheriff's office. A man and woman said Jarvis argued with them at a bar earlier in the evening. Later, when they went to Jarvis' residence to pick up their son, Jarvis allegedly shot into the ground with a handgun near the boy, and debris from the impact struck him in the ear. The boy was not injured.
Jarvis told a deputy he shot the gun into the ground and surrendered the pistol to the officer. A deputy saw a hole in the ice with copper fragments, and Jarvis said it was where he fired the gun.
After his arrest, Jarvis posted bond and was released.
