A man threatened two K-mart employees with a knife during a shoplifting attempt on Tuesday, Cape Girardeau police said.

About 11:45 a.m., police responded to a robbery at the store at 11 S. Kingshighway.

A man had attempted to walk out of the store with two video cassette recorders, Sgt. Carl Kinnison said. When employees confronted him, he pulled out a knife.

No one was injured in the incident.

Any time that force is used in a theft, it is considered a robbery, Kinnison said.

The man is currently in custody, pending charges of robbery, police said.
