The Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested a 42-year-old man Tuesday after he allegedly shoplifted from the Cape Girardeau Walmart and led police officers on a car chase to Mississippi County.

The chase began around 5:45 p.m., according to Cpl. Bradley Smith of the Cape Girardeau Police Department.

Most of the pursuit took place on Interstate 55, Smith said.

The suspect's name wasn't released Tuesday night as charges were still pending with the prosecuting attorney's office.
