A Cape Girardeau man was arrested in connection with an armed robbery Saturday morning.
Around 5 a.m. Saturday, the victim and another person where at Rhodes, 546 S. Sprigg St., when they gave a ride to another individual to South Ellis Street, Cape Girardeau police spokesman Darin Hickey said.
When they stopped, a subject approached the victim, displayed a weapon and demanded money. An undetermined amount of money was taken from the victim, who called the police and followed the suspect's car.
Police stopped the vehicle near Park and Bloomfield streets and arrested the driver of the vehicle, Matthew D. Martin. Martin, 33, was identified as the driver of the vehicle when the robbery occurred, but not the suspect with the gun. Due to his alleged involvement, Martin was charged with first-degree robbery.
Martin is being held at Cape Girardeau County jail with $75,000 bond. The suspect with the gun was still at large Monday afternoon.
