SIKESTON, Mo. -- A police chase in and around Sikeston on Tuesday led to the arrest of a Wisconsin man.
Sikeston police officers attempted to pull over and arrest Darrius D. Johnson, 33, of Milwaukee, on a probation warrant around 10:30 a.m., according to a news release from the Sikeston Department of Public Safety.
Johnson fled to Highway 114, driving at speeds between 60 and 80 mph. The chase continued to Route BB, U.S. 60 and back to Highway 114 near Morehouse, Mo., and Essex, Mo., according to the release. Officers were able to stop his vehicle near Hunterville, Mo. Johnson fled on foot, the release said, but was caught a short distance away in a field.
He was charged with two counts of assault or attempted assault of a law enforcement officer, and one count of resisting arrest. He was being held in lieu of $100,000 bond.
