JACKSON, Mo. -- A Jackson man was arrested Thursday following a fight with two police officers in a residential neighborhood.
The unidentified man assaulted two police officers who were placing him under arrest for careless and imprudent driving and peace disturbance, Jackson police said.
Police said a person reported the man drove into the 1000 block of Morton Street at a high speed and locked up his brakes while children were at play.
When police Sgt. Howard Hammers and officer Rick Whitaker responded, the man came out of his residence and began yelling at them, police said.
When told he was under arrest, police said, the suspect resisted arrest and assaulted both officers.
Hammers and the man were taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Charges are pending.
