POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- A shooting victim is in St. Francis Medical Center for treatment of a non-life threatening gunshot wound and the suspect in the shooting is in the Butler County Jail.

About 11 p.m. Friday, Butler County Sheriff's deputies responded to a reported domestic dispute between a father and his stepson at a residence at 50 Haystack Lane.

The argument was between Cody Daily, 23, of Doniphan, Mo., and Richard Douglas Wolfe, 55, at whose resident the incident took place.

Daily had earlier left the residence and was intoxicated when he returned, reports stated

Witnesses reportedly told Butler County Sheriff's deputies Daily made threats and pushed Wolfe.

Wolfe retaliated by pulling a .380 caliber semiautomatic handgun and shooting Daily in the abdomen without warning, according to reports.

After Wolfe's arrest, he was taken to the Butler County Sheriff's Department where he was given a blood alcohol content test and registered .24.

Daily first was taken to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center where he was stabilized before being flown to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Wolfe has been charged with felony second-degree assault. His bond was set at $20,000 cash or surety.
