EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. -- Two people were rescued early Monday morning after their vehicle became trapped in the Mississippi River.
At 12:27 a.m., the Mississippi County Rescue Squad was notified a vehicle had gone into the Mississippi River at the Dorena-Hickman Ferry Landing, off Highway 105. At the scene, rescuers found a man and his daughter trapped inside a truck, according to a news release issued by rescue squad director Danny Harris.
Assisted by personnel from the Mississippi County Sheriff's Department, Mississippi County Ambulance Service and the Missouri State Conservation Department, the two victims were rescued about 1:35 a.m. The two were treated and released at the scene.
"The victims stated that they were cold and wet but other than that they were OK," Harris said.
They were taken by a sheriff's deputy to a local hotel. Members of the Mississippi County Rescue Squad gave the victims dry clothes to wear until they get back home, Harris said.
