KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Almost three years after a jury convicted him of killing his girlfriend and dismembering her body, a Kansas City man was acquitted at his retrial. Henry Daniels, 61, was convicted in October 2003 of second-degree murder in the killing of Linda C. Smith, 33. She disappeared June 8, 1997.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Two women died when someone fired 10 to 15 shots into their parked car on a midtown Kansas City street Thursday night. Police said Ashley M. Tyler-Stewart, 21, and her passenger, Alisa R. Winrow, 19, were killed, as was the fetus that Tyler-Stewart was carrying. Police Capt. Donna Greenfield said the women were sitting in the car when a man approached and started shooting, then the gunman jumped into a nearby car and got away.
