A Cape Girardeau man was arrested and charged with forgery because he used an apparatus in an attempt to provide a false urine sample for a drug test, police said.
Cape Girardeau police officer Zachary Farley went to the office of probation and parole about 10 a.m. Wednesday because of a report Jalen Ryan McDowell, 20, violated his probation, according to a probable-cause statement filed by the officer.
McDowell had concealed a tube between his legs in an attempt to submit urine that was not his own for a drug test, Farley wrote. The Cape Girardeau County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged McDowell with felony forgery and possession of a forging instrument.
McDowell pleaded guilty to distribution of a controlled substance Nov. 16 and received five years’ supervised probation.
