KENNETT, Mo. -- Prosecutors charged a 34-year-old man Friday with killing and robbing his grandmother, who died last week of repeated blows to the head.
Ronald Lee Harrison Jr., of Qulin, is charged with first-degree murder and robbery, and armed criminal action in the Jan. 3 death of Reba Magouirk, of Campbell. He is being held without bond in the Dunklin County Jail. His arraignment is set for Tuesday.
Magouirk was struck repeatedly in her home with what appears to have been an edged instrument, assistant prosecutor John Spielman said Friday. Her purse, containing an undetermined amount of cash and her Social Security check, was also taken.
A family member discovered the 72-year-old woman in her home. She died a few hours later at a hospital.
