POPLARBLUFF, Mo. -- A Poplar Bluff man may face assault and weapons charges after he allegedly fired a shot at the ground near his sister following an argument Monday morning at his residence.
Enis Franklin Cecil, 43, of the 200 block of South E Street was arrested at 12:15 p.m. on suspicion of first-degree assault and armed criminal action in connection with an incident involving his sister, Tammy Morey, 33.
According to Poplar Bluff police Patrolman Jim Gerber's report, he and other officers responded at 11:40 a.m. to South E Street in reference to a subject shooting a weapon at his neighbors. According to Gerber, Morey told him that she and her husband returned home when they were told by a neighbor that Cecil had allegedly taken a propane bottle from their residence.
As Morey "started across the street to contact Cecil" she was reportedly yelling at Cecil who "goes into his house and retrieves a rifle," Gerber said. "He then pointed the weapon at her and pulled the trigger.
"The rifle discharged, striking the ground between her feet."
