A 23-year-old Cape Girardeau man could face charges for assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest after he allegedly bit a police officer Tuesday. A call was received from the Community Counseling Center at about 1:30 p.m., according to Cape Girardeau Police Department spokesman Sgt. Jason Selzer.
The man, whose name has yet to be released, was at the center for an appointment and became hostile toward staff members. He became combative when police arrived and bit an officer on the arm, Selzer said. The man, who was subdued and taken to Southeast Hospital, could face assault and resisting arrest charges.
