Jim Govro is new manager of West Park Mall.

Govro, who has been serving as operations manager at Mid-Rivers Mall in St. Charles, assumed his duties here Tuesday.

Govro, the sixth manager of the mall since it opened here more than a dozen years ago, succeeds Karen Beckman, who is transferring to Omaha, Neb., where she will be general manager of a 1-million-square- foot facility that has more than 200 stores.

Govro joined CenterMark Properties Inc., which operates West Park Mall, five years ago.

He was operations manager at South County Mall in St. Louis four years before transferring to Mid-Rivers Mall, which has 130 tenants, including three anchor stores.

Govro said he liked the mall property here and the town.

"I'm looking forward to Cape Girardeau," said Govro, a St. Louis native. "I spent nine years in Wyoming, in a city about the same size as Cape Girardeau."

West Park Mall has about 70 tenants, including three anchors -- J.C. Penny Co. Inc., Famous-Barr Co. and Venture Store.

"This is an impressive mall property," said Govro. "It draws from a 50- to 60-mile radius."
