Malden police chief Jarrett Bullock said the boy took his mother's boyfriend's car around 3:30 a.m. Friday, and drove it for an hour before striking utility and light poles and vehicles at a dealership.

The boy was ejected in the crash, and was flown to St. Louis Children's Hospital.

The boy's family had no idea he wasn't in his bedroom until receiving an early morning phone call from police. Dunklin County juvenile authorities have been contacted.
