Malden man killed in one-car accident
MALDEN, Mo. -- A Malden man was killed when his vehicle failed to negotiate a curve Christmas Day.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported at 5:50 p.m. Thursday on Dunklin County Road 222, two miles south of Malden, Darrell J. McDowell, 45, was driving east when his vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway. According to the report, the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve, striking a utility pole.
McDowell was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:22 p.m. by Dunklin County Coroner James Powell. It was the 59th fatality reported in the Troop E area for 2014.
A driver also suffered moderate injuries in an accident at 12:42 p.m. Thursday on County Road 541, one mile east of Bloomfield, Missouri.
Tyson C. Hensley, 26, of Bloomfield was driving north when his vehicle failed to negotiate a curve and struck a tree, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
Hensley was taken by ambulance to Southeast Health of Stoddard County.
A Gideon driver suffered minor injuries in an accident at 4:05 p.m. Wednesday, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
Kimberly A. Hanna, 48, was driving north on Highway 153 at County Road 255, two miles west of Tallapoosa, Missouri, when her vehicle ran off the right side of the road. The vehicle overturned.
Hanna was treated for her injuries at the scene.
A vehicle overturned in an accident at 10:10 a.m. Wednesday on County Road 284, one mile west of Highway 153.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol's' report, Gary C. Abbott, 60, of Clarkton, Missouri, was driving east when he lost control of the vehicle and overcorrected. The vehicle overturned.
Abbott, who suffered moderate injuries, was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Dexter, Missouri, for treatment.
