Four days after a shooting in Cape Girardeau, the Cape Girardeau/Bollinger County Major Case Squad announced it no longer will investigate the case, leaving it to local authorities.
Police responded Monday afternoon to 401 S. Hanover St., where a woman was found shot in the head in an apparent drive-by shooting. She was sitting on the porch at the time of the shooting.
The victim is in serious condition at a hospital, police said Thursday.
No arrests have been made. Law enforcement agencies briefly searched for two men thought to be witnesses of the shooting, and both were found and questioned.
The Cape Girardeau Police Department will continue the investigation.
The Major Case Squad still is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
