Former NBA All-Star Magic Johnson's mom, Christine Johnson, will speak on achieving success through education and determination Friday at the Drury Lodge.

Johnson is a motivational speaker, mentor at a high school in her hometown of Lansing, Mich., and a prison ministry volunteer.

"I'm inspired by a love for people and enjoy telling others about the things which have helped me in my life in hopes that I can help others in some way," said Johnson.

A silent auction and banquet is slated prior to the lecture followed by a live auction. Autographed sports memorabilia will be auctioned, including an autographed jersey worn by Detroit Pistons star Ben Wallace. All proceeds will benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Cape Girar-deau.

The Boys and Girls Club of Cape Girardeau is a nonprofit organization with a mission to inspire and enable all young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential as responsible and caring citizens.
