The Lutheran Family and Children's Services agency will honor two volunteers Thursday for putting their faith into action. The event is part of an annual awards and recognition banquet which will be held at 7 p.m. at Drury Lodge.

William Beggs and Laura Brazer will be recognized for their service to the Lutheran agency.

Beggs will receive the Walter award, named after the late Rev. Walter J. Keisker, a longtime Lutheran pastor in the area who was an advocate for the agency.

Beggs has served on the LFCS advisory board since 1993. He was originally appointed for a three-year term but served an additional five years, working often on the annual home tour.

He is also a treasurer for Trinity Lutheran Church, where he is a member and has served as both president and treasurer of the Trinity school board. He is also an active member of the church choir. He served as chairman of Aid Association for Lutherans Branch 351 and on the Lutheran campus center board.

Brazer, a full-time student, will receive the agency's faith in action award for her volunteer service during the past 4 1/2 ears.

She first contacted the agency as a client and then began volunteering. She frequently speaks at dinners, programs and workshops.

She has been involved in mission trips to Trinidad and has helped paint the graffiti wall at the Freedom Rock Youth Center. She works with the House of Hope outreach center and has been a camp leader at Camp Penuel.
