Southeast Missouri State University will present its first Jack Buck Scholar Leadership Award and recognize six St. Louis area alumni at an awards luncheon today.
The Southeast Salutes awards luncheon will be held at the Royal New Orleans in St. Louis.
The family of the late Jack Buck, the legendary St. Louis Cardinals baseball broadcaster, is expected to attend the scholarship presentation. In addition to the award recipient, five finalists will be recognized.
School officials said they were keeping the names of the students secret until the presentation.
Southeast's St. Louis Alumni Council will present Southeast Salutes awards to alumni.
Recipients of the 2003 awards are Richard Pisani, president of the American Marketing Group Inc.; Dr. Maureen Clancy-May, assistant superintendent for instructional support at Riverview Gardens School District; Maj. Linda Meyer, chief of medical readiness at Scott Air Force Base and a nurse at St. John's Mercy Medical Center.
William Lohmar, a senior judge for the state of Missouri and a St. Charles County lawyer; Dr. Gordon Ronald Garrett, executive vice president of the St. Louis Metropolitan Medical Society, and Richard Hantak, a retired high school industrial arts teacher and guidance counselor who was a referee in the National Football League for 25 years.
Pisani graduated from Southeast in 1971 with a degree in marketing management.
Clancy-May graduated from Southeast in 1979 with a teaching degree.
Meyer has served in the Air Force since graduating from Southeast in 1982 with a nursing degree.
Lohmar graduated from Southeast in 1968 with a social studies degree.
Garrett graduated from Southeast in 1961 with a degree in biology.
Hantak graduated in 1961 with a teaching degree and in 1972 with a master of science in guidance and counseling degree.
