The First Tuesday Noon Worship will meet Sept. 2 at Freedom Rock and focus on prayers for schools and education. The informal meeting runs from noon to 1 p.m.
Faith in action award goes to Bonney
Darlene Bonney received the "Faith-in-Action" award recently at an annual awards dinner held by Lutheran Family and Children's Services in Cape Girardeau.
More than 200 people attended the dinner at the Drury Lodge.
The award is commonly called the "Walter" in honor of the late Rev. Walter Keisker, who helped organize the counseling and social service agency.
Guest speaker for the evening was the Rev. Richard Eissfeldt, the first director for the Southeast office of LFCS, which opened in 1973. The organization continues to offer child welfare services, adoption, birth parent counseling, senior adult counseling and an Alzheimer's support group.
Gospel singing set in Villa Ridge
Shiloh Baptist Church in Villa Ridge, Ill., will hold a gospel singing service at 7 p.m. on Sept. 6. The Gloryroad Travelers and Rejoice will perform. For information, call (618) 995-2306.
Lutheran Campus minstry meets Sunday
Lutheran Chapel of Hope will hold its opening worship at 11 a.m. Sunday. The weekly Bible study begins on Wednesday. The chapel is at College Hill and Pacific Street.

Organizational meeting planned for pro-life group
The Lutherans for Life of Missouri will hold an organizational meeting from 2 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Concordia Lutheran Church in Sikeston. The group is a pro-life organization affiliated with the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.
The guest speaker for the meeting is the Rev. Dr. Robert Weise, a professor of pastoral ministry and life sciences at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis. Diane Albers, president of Lutherans for Life state chapter, will talk about how to organize a local group.

Benefit musical planned for Jackson school
Heartland Pops Orchestra band and chorus will present "Music for a Sunday afternoon" and "Swinging with the Pops" as a benefit concert for Immaculate Conception School. The event will be at 3 p.m. Sept. 21 at Notre Dame Regional High School cafeteria. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students.
